James has been an artist for 25 years painting portraits, landscapes and seascapes. He is now living in Edinburgh. He is a Royal portrait painter and an official war artist.

James believes that a painting should look like a painting with visible brush marks which he believes gives an interesting, expressive painted surface to bring out the character and feeling of the scene.
