Raised in the village of Snitter, artist Hally Mason takes inspiration from the wildlife that surrounds her childhood home in Northumberland.
Growing up submerged in country life, her paintings often include animals and pets such as horses, cattle, chickens, pheasants, fox hounds, dogs, cats and much more.
Growing up a horse fanatic, Hal grew up studying horses with just a pencil and notebook. Whilst studying fine art her horse obsession took a break to focus on other projects. But thanks to her family connections to various equine sports, it’s no surprise that in recent years the artist has fallen into capturing the beauty of horses once again, a true full circle moment.
Her abstract style offers a unique take on subjects usually captured in a more traditional style, in an attempt to break the mould of what animal portraiture has to be. Her work highlights the movement and character of each animal, whether a domestic pet, livestock or wildlife, Hally ensures each subject is portrayed by its nature and individualism.
Hal enjoys painting in acrylic due to the need to work fast against the quick drying paint, forcing the fun, free-flowing style into her work. This allows her to infuse the personality her art is known for.
