Born under the name of Martin Hasson in 1950's Northern Ireland, Hasson began painting and drawing at the age of three. He worked as a freelance graphic designer and painted landscapes, abstracts and seascapes in oils, watercolours, pen and ink.
As his work portrayed a harsher more darker style in the 90's, he felt a new name would be beneficial to allow both styles to continue, and so J.P. Rooney was created.
The strength of the Rooney name was quickly established. Demand has increased rapidly and has lead to many one man shows - the Rooney paintings became the sole representation of Hasson's work. He is sold in galleries around Ireland and the UK.
