Ali Kippax - Shifting Shore

Ali is an abstract landscape painter currently based in Cheshire. Her work is concerned with the elemental relationship between land, sea and sky.

After graduating from Bristol with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, Ali worked in art education for several years. She now enjoys travelling around the country finding inspirational locations that will encourage an immediate and emotional response to the environment.

Ali always works on location, and applies acrylic paint directly onto canvas using fingers, rags, brushes, palette knives and anything else to hand, which she finds encourages an energetic engagement and immediate connection with her surroundings.

The experience of working within nature and responding directly to the landscape brings an honesty and freshness of approach that she says she finds impossible to replicate back in the studio.
