Kathryn McFarlane - 'Afternoon Drift'

Framed: 40cm x 40cm

Acrylic mixed media and collage painting on wooden cradled panel.

Kathryn McFarlane is a Scottish abstract artist who loves working with colour, texture and quiet detail. She uses hand-painted papers and repurposed materials to create layered artworks that gently explore memory, nostalgia and the small connections that shape everyday life.

Her pieces often play with balance, bringing together harmony and soft tension, to reflect how personal experiences shape our emotions. Inspired by artists like Klee, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Rothko, and Mondrian, her work often focuses on shape, line and thoughtful design, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.

Kathryn studied Graphic Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and was awarded the Visual Artist and Craft Maker Award in 2022. A former council member of Aberdeen Artists Society, her work is held in private collections across the UK and internationally and she continues to create from her studio in Aberdeen.
