David James is a self-taught Scottish artist living in Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland. He has a background in property and construction, and also a keen interest in Scottish scenery. His artworks are based around Scottish landscapes and the architecture of buildings. David has a particular interest in creating artworks in a realist style. 

David works in a variety of mediums including graphite, ink, watercolour and coloured pencil, but favours black and blue ink. He feels that ink allows intricate details to be captured and provides a good level of contrast. 

David has a passion for the great outdoors, and in his spare time will often visit the Scottish hills to enjoy the scenery and find inspiration for his artworks.
