Ruby Marr, a skilled artist based in Scotland and the Cayman Islands, captures the vibrancy of the ocean in her work. Her deep connection to the breathtaking Caribbean waters as a scuba diver, and her life in Scotland with her husband as a traditional “net & coble” salmon fisherwoman, fuels the passion and energy in her artistic expression.

Through her techniques of layering oil, acrylic, texture and resin on custom birch panels, she creates art with a glass-like depth which truly mirror the ocean’s movement and form by using fire alongside her unique techniques.

Over the past four years, Ruby has been studying augmented reality, and how to bring her art to life in sound and vision. As she gets older, she looks to work on smaller, less physically challenging pieces. Her venture into printing “art alive” on tempered glass is fast becoming much loved.

Now in her early sixties, Ruby spends more of her time in her studio in Galloway, Scotland. She is still a key player in the Cayman Art Community, but of recent, is becoming more active in the Scottish world of art.
