Dear Green Place: Exploring the Colours of Glasgow

It is said that Glasgow is Brittonic in origin and can be translated as 'Dear Green Place' from the Gaelic Glas Caomh. Glasgow is still affectionately known by many as dear green place, or often not so affectionately known as dear grey place.

This exhibition explores the full spectrum of colours in Glasgow, from the dreich weather and greys of the city buildings, to the rich colours of the native plants and the earthy palettes found around Glasgow's green places. It also explores the colours and personalities of the people, such as our beloved Billy Connolly.

We have a range of artists from Glasgow natives, to those who have chosen Glasgow as their home, to those who were just captivated by the places, landmarks or people here.
