Róisín Lyst - 'Navigating Expectation'

Róisín Lyst is a 23-year-old acrylic artist from Northumberland. Her work is inspired by music, atmosphere and people. Using vibrant, warm colours, she aims to evoke emotion - to transport the viewer somewhere and make them feel calm, excited or nostalgic.
She explores themes including jazz music, dance, relationships and sentiments, and each painting is created to emulate a specific mood.

Róisín has been selling her art for the past 10 years, having set up a business selling watercolour animal portraits when she was 13. However, whilst studying in Liverpool from 2021 - 2024 she became increasingly interested in the atmosphere of city life, particularly in jazz bars and pubs, and often would sit in a corner observing and sketching. Some of her paintings begin as one of these sketches, and others from a line of poetry, or a piece of music – inspiration strikes anywhere and everywhere.
