Arantza Elosua - 'Bonny Banks'

Arantza was born and raised in Barcelona but moved to Scotland more than twenty years ago. She loves to travel and to see the world from different angles, which she portrays in her unique paintings.

Arantza is an abstract artist with a background in linguistics and interior design. Her eye-catching artistic style follows an intuitive, passionate approach with a focus on capturing emotion and conveying energy through vibrant colours, bold marks, shapes and texture. 

Arantza has always been interested in the subconscious and dreams, so her paintings are an extension of how she feels: dream-like, sometimes child-like, always full of emotions and colours. She asks, "What do you see when you close your eyes?"

As someone who pursued art later in life, to Arantza, art is an accumulated visceral form of self expression that allows her to explore emotions and incorporate messages for the viewer to interpret. She aims to create works that communicate an optimistic energy and zest through abstraction and colour psychology.
