Born in Mexborough in 1953, painting was important from an early age. Divinding his time between his studio and locations throughout the UK and abroad, Ian's painting's are mainly a celebration of atmosphere and light and he particularly enjoys capturing the transient aspects of weather and the 'Contre Jour' effect of painting directly into the light.
Many exhibitions have followed including The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The New English Art Club, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters to name but a few. In 2004 he was awarded the 'The Discerning Eye' Chairman's Purchase Prize. His work is held in both private and public collections.
