Janet McCrorie is a figurative artist with a keen sense of shape and flow of the body in movement, particularly in Scottish dancing which is her main subject. Working as an arts and crafts teacher, she went on to study with The Open College of the Arts and later at Leith School of Art.
Janet works using mixed media, this is best for depicting the various tartan fabrics and the swirl and momentum conveyed. There is a sense of pride and nostalgia in the ceilidh dance she paints, a very Scottish tradition which will never die out. Now living in East Lothian, Janet is regularly commissioned to paint a specific tartan or event. Her popular work can be seen in many Galleries throughout Scotland.
