Martin was born in Co. Antrim in 1964. Self taught, his naive style pays homage to Irish Figurists such as Markey Robinson and Gladys MacCabe. Martin's images are deceptive in that their apparently simple construction belies complex underpinning and arduous advance planning.

His themes reflect his love of the land and his appreciation of the 'craic' traditionally associated with local hostelries. His passion is truly of all things Irish, which is very evident in his art.
